In a decision made at the October general meeting, members voted 26-4 to have members attend all meetings for FREE! We, here at FCCAPC are so excited to have members attend meetings FOR FREE!! It has pushed our meeting back to 6:30 pm - to allow providers time to pick up dinner or eat at home. You can bring your food to the meetings, enjoy your dinner, receive your STARS credit - FOR FREE :)
Can't wait to see you at our next meeting!!
The strangest thing happened to me on yesterday at my daycare. A City of Tacoma Tax & License compliance officer showed up at my house and gave me some information about a new tax/license I am required to have to operate a small business in Tacoma. At first I was shocked because I knew we had complied with all state requirements - registered business license filed through the Secretary of State ($200+), Early Childcare License ($30 annually) through Department of Child, Youth and Families (formerly Department of Early Learning).
So when this Compliance Officer appeared at my door, I was worried, to say the least.
After talking to her for a little while, calling her after she left - I garnered a lot of information that I would like to now share with you all.
1) Although we are registered through the sate for our business license - You MUST now register with the city of Tacoma and pay the $110 fee if you gross between $12,000 - $250,000 annually - the fee goes up if you gross more than that
2) The website is kind of difficult to navigate - if you've never been on there before - I got lost a few times before I found the application
3) There is a way to register and pay online through a system (https://www.filelocal-wa.gov/Default_FileLocal.aspx)
4) This city business tax is only in 5 cities currently - Bellevue, Everett, Lake Forest Park, Seattle & Tacoma
and 5) Not filing is not an option lol
I have submitted the pdf business application to FCCACP via emailing the Director of Marketing at:
email@example.com and she assured me that she would post it on the resource page for all providers.
If you have information that needs to be shared to all providers please email your stories to firstname.lastname@example.org and it will be added here on the updates page.As many of you know, we at FCCAPC are family home providers, just like you. In the city of Tacoma, we have had Tax and License Compliance Officers coming around to small businesses to ensure we are registered with the city. At first it was shocking
We would like to thank all those that attended the Family Child Care Association of Pierce County’s Tour of Homes. Many months of planning, organization and volunteer time goes into pulling this exciting yearly event together. It is always wonderful to see so many local childcare providers come together to share their homes and their businesses and talk about the important work that we do every day.
This supportive sharing of the struggles and the joys of childcare has been happening every month from September through May for the last 50 years through FCCAPC. The depth of knowledge demonstrated in educating our youngest learners through our member providers is astounding! I personally have learned so much about children, families, business, and taking care of myself from these amazing women and men over the last 5 years.
I invite you to join FCCAPC by going online at FCCAPC.comand signing up for membership. This year we are offering an Early Bird Membership special price of $50.00, if you join via this website by Memorial Day, May 28th. After that date the price will go back up to $60.00 for the remainder of our membership year. We have many exciting plans for this year to connect family child care providers with valuable resources designed to aid in doing our difficult and rewarding job. I am committed to expanding our circle of support to all providers in Pierce County and beyond. Please join us!
